Megan Knotz grew up in Jacksonville, OR avidly exploring the hills and forests. In 1995 she moved to Seattle to pursue a BFA in dance at Cornish College of the Arts. While there she discovered Pilates as a means to rehab a dance related injury, and she was hooked! So hooked, that in 2009 she completed her Certification as a Stott Pilates Instructor.

Megan loves to share her knowledge of the body with others: from beginners just starting out to people who have moved their bodies for years. She loves to be a part of helping clients as they reach and exceed their fitness goals.

Upon returning to the Rogue Valley in 2013 Megan connected with Southern Oregon Pilates. She loved the studio and could tell it would be a perfect fit! She is thrilled to be coming up on her 10th year anniversary with Debbie and the studio.

Growing up as a dancer and performing artist I was inspired to gain a deeper understanding of body mechanics and healing through movement. I went on to study Kinesiology and worked alongside physical therapists who taught me a variety of techniques such as Feldenkrais, The Franklin Method, and Muscle Energy Techniques which I use in combination with Pilates to provide the ideal movement experience for my clients.

I love that every session is as unique as each client. By moving in new ways, we shape a deeper and healthier relationship with our body. I will encourage a client who moves quickly to refine their movements and invite a cautious mover to explore variety. I safely challenge each of my clients and help them gain the strength and awareness they need to thrive.

Anastasia has been teaching Pilates, yoga, and working as a movement therapist since 2009. She received her Basi Mat certification in 2012, and completed her reformer training with Balanced Body in 2019. She has developed courses for the Association of Pediatric Physical Therapists and for the teacher training program at Elk Rock Yoga.

The guiding principle of Anastasia’s teaching is that movement is medicine. As a dancer for over 25 years, it was the complex technical choreography that drove her to explore yoga and Pilates. As she dove deeply into her own practice, Anastasia learned to map her body, manage physical and emotional stress, transform childhood asthma into deeply connected breath, and how to form new neuropathways to fully integrate movement. It is these transformative experiences that inspired her to become a teacher herself.
